IUP Hockey history has a new name at the top and it’s one that Crimson Hawk fans have watched dominate the scoresheet for years.
With his 94th career assist, #25 Jace Rearic has officially become the All-Time Franchise Leader in Assists, surpassing the previous record held by Matt Sargo. It’s another milestone in what has been a remarkable collegiate career for the Kittanning, Pennsylvania native, and one that further cements Rearic’s legacy as one of the most dynamic offensive players the program has ever seen.
But the record-breaking doesn’t stop there.
As he continues his graduate season, Rearic sits:
-
6 points away from becoming the All-Time Franchise Leader in points
-
10 goals away from becoming the All-Time Franchise Leader in goals
-
4 goals away from the All-Time Franchise record for goals in a single season
With six games remaining, every shift brings the possibility of more history.
From Local Rinks to Program Icon
Rearic’s journey to the top of the IUP record book started close to home. Growing up in Kittanning, PA, he developed his game playing for the Armstrong Arrows and Armstrong Riverhawks, where his offensive instincts and playmaking ability quickly stood out.
Those skills carried him into a standout junior hockey career, competing at the highest levels with the Boston Jr. Bandits (NCDC), South Shore Kings (NCDC), and Bridgewater Jr. Bandits (USPHL). By the time he arrived at IUP, Rearic was already a proven scorer and he wasted no time making his mark.
A Career Defined by Growth and Consistency
While his freshman season proved to be his only statistical down year (5 goals, 3 assists in 31 games), it was merely the foundation for what followed. From that point on, Rearic transformed into a high-powered offensive machine.
-
Sophomore Year: 22 goals, 23 assists in 30 games
-
Junior Year: 19 goals, 27 assists in 30 games
-
Senior Year: 8 goals, 22 assists in 26 games
-
Graduate Year (Current): 26 goals, 19 assists in 27 games
Each season showcased his evolution, not just as a scorer, but as a complete offensive threat capable of controlling games, setting up teammates, and delivering in big moments.
More Than Just Numbers
Now completing his MBA at IUP, Rearic continues to balance elite performance on the ice with success off it. His leadership, consistency, and drive have made him a cornerstone of the program, and his impact extends far beyond the stat sheet.
With eyes set on continuing his career professionally after graduation, Rearic’s story is still being written. But one thing is already certain: #25 Jace Rearic has forever etched his name into IUP Hockey history and he’s not done yet.
