As the regular season of American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) draws to a close, the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) hockey team finds itself 24th in the ACHA National rankings. Wrapping up their season with an impressive league record of 11-1, the team secured the CHMA regular-season championship, marking their third league championship. With an overall record of 22-8-1, the Crimson Hawks eye their third appearance in the ACHA National Championship Tournament.
Throughout the season, IUP demonstrated their prowess both on home ice and away games, boasting a home record of 9-5-1 and an impressive away record of 12-2-0. This exceptional performance not only showcases the team’s versatility but also highlights their ability to thrive on the road.
Reflecting on their journey, Head Coach Joe Honzo expressed his pride in the team’s accomplishments. “Our players have shown tremendous dedication and resilience throughout the season,” said Coach Honzo. “Their hard work and determination have truly paid off, culminating in our success as the CHMA regular-season champions.”

Notably, their impressive triumph over West Chester University, University of Delaware, and University of Alabama showcased the team’s dominance on the ice.
Looking ahead, the Crimson Hawks have set their sights on securing a spot in the National ACHA tournament. To achieve this goal, they must navigate through the CHMA playoffs, where they are set to begin their quest with a first-round bye.
The CHMA playoffs kick off this weekend, with IUP slated to play at 6 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024, in Delmont, PA. With their eyes firmly set on the prize, the team remains focused and determined to continue their winning momentum as they vie for the CHMA playoff title.
